The project examines user habits and the factors influencing boat product development and innovation in new markets. The research data generated by the project will enable Finnish companies in the boating industry and waterway tourism to develop products and services that better meet consumer demands both domestically and internationally. During the project, efforts are also made to accelerate cooperation between the boating industry and waterway tourism.

The project explores, for example, how the sharing economy, the rapid development of digital platforms, and the growing demand for experiences are shaping changing markets. In addition, the project investigates how the service infrastructure of Finnish waterway tourism should be developed in order to meet the future needs of tourists in a sustainable way.
